Review: Organik Botanik’ Salt and Coconut Oil Face Scrub

For most, scrubbing their face with salt just sounds painful, but if you actually think about the properties of pure sea salt (not that refined cooking salt) the concept will actually make a lot of sense. Think about when you go to the beach with you crusty, dry, hard skinned feet. After about an hour of having your feet in the water, your feet magically come out baby soft. That’s because of the natural minerals in the sea salt stripping away the layers of dead skin to leave your skin soft and smooth.

That’s the concept behind this scrub, to get rid of the dead skin cells, just like any other scrub, but in a way which I have found to be more effective because the minerals in the salt actually leave the skin visibly softer immediately, which is only helped by the added coconut oil which adds moisture and repairs the skin after such an abrasive scrub.

I use it 2-3 times a week, applying only a little bit to my damp skin and GENTLY scrubbing my face and neck. I’ve found that it reduces the look of my pores, especially on my neck and chest, and everything just feels very smooth and very clean for a few days afterwards. I think this is also particularly good if you remove hair from your face, either by waxing or shaving because it ensures that you don’t get ingrown hair bumps.
But go easy if you have sensitive skin.

I bought this at T.K Maxx in the UK, so I doubt I’ll even be able to find it again even if I wanted to, so I’ll probably just make it again myself when this one finishes, which is a good option since it really only has two ingredients in it. But if you do decide to do this, you absolutely can’t use cooking salt because that has been refined to the point where it doesn’t have any of those natural minerals which help the skin become soft and glowing.  But, regardless, at the time I decided to buy it since it was there and was cheap at only £4.99, and I am quite pleased with the results. But if you do manage to find the Organik Botanik range else where like online, this is one product in their range which is well worth a try and if you don’t want to, or can’t, buy it try making it yourself to save money.
